Meet Laarni Liwanag - Funeral Planner Customer Service Specialist
Laarni who was born and raised in the Philippines is the youngest of a family of 8 children. She graduated with an accounting degree and worked her way to the top of the ladder and became one of the best internal auditors of one of the largest commercial banks in the Philippines.
Laarni is enjoying the company of new friends and colleagues in Vancouver. She still goes home to Philippines once in a while to visit family and friends.
Her frequent assignments to the different parts of the country kindled her love to travel. As independent minded as she is, she decided to migrate to Canada in 1998 to live on her own away from her family and friends.

In Canada, it did not take long for her to gain a financially rewarding job when she was hired as Audit Administration Officer of a bank thus making use of her vast work experience in the Philippines.
Luck smiled again when in 2002, a Philippine based bank appointed her as a Branch Manager in its subsidiary in Vancouver, British Columbia. This position required dexterity to handle customers even in the most challenging circumstances. It honed her customer service skills and upped her public relations image a few notches.
Friends in the Community
Laarni is very active in the Filipino-Canadian community. In her first years in Vancouver, she
gravitated towards members of her Catholic faith. She became an active member of the Legion of Mary in her parish which she relishes up to now.
As part of the Legionary’s missionary work, she and her colleagues visit the houses of the parishioners for family rosary crusade.
As a civil servant, Laarni is always a helping hand to organize events for the Filipino community. She is also a member and currently the Vice President of the Philippines Canada Trade Council, an organization which is mandated to facilitate trade and investments between Canada and the Philippines.
